The Museum for
Black Girls

An immersive love letter to Black women.

01 / Our story

More than a museum.
A place to belong.

Founded by Denver native Charlie Billingsley, the Museum for Black Girls honors the stories, creativity, and brilliance of Black women. A one-night celebration became a traveling pop-up, then a permanent 7,000-square-foot home on Denver’s 16th Street Mall.

With more than 25 interactive rooms, community events, and youth programming, every visit is an invitation to feel seen.

The Take Care Black Girl Foundation supports free workshops, mentorship, and wellness programming for young Black girls.

A museum built as a love letter

Every room is designed to make Black women feel seen, celebrated, and photographed.

From Denver to Oakland

The museum expands to the Bay Area in Fall 2026 with community-sourced exhibitions like Who Raised You? The Family Album.

Healing as programming

The State of Healing initiative and Take Care Black Girl Foundation bring free wellness tools, journaling, and events to the community.

A venue unlike any other

Brands, couples, and creators rent the museum's immersive rooms for events, launches, and shoots.
